"There are consequences to breaking the heart of a murdering bastard. You experienced some of them." ~ FAVOURITE VILLAINS IN TARANTINO FILMS

"One may smile, and smile, and be a villain." Shakespeare wrote this, Quentin Tarantino follows this...well in most cases. His villains are menacing- agreed, but have humourous quality about them. And I think everyone knows about my soft spot for baddies.
These are my favourite villains from QT films:

Honourable mentions- The Führer himself, the Crazy 88, Ordell.

10) Drexl Spivey (played by Gary Oldman)- Oldman plays a pimp who thinks that he's a black man, who kills, curses and steals. Just the look, and the Oldman owning the character- genius.

9) The Media, Public, almost everyone in Natural Born Killers- This film shows how people are addicted to scandal, and how the media uses everything to its own advantage, without realising the repercussions.

8) Virgil (played by James Gandolfini)- He comes, starts throwing delicate little Patricia Arquette around and starts telling her about how it feels to kill a person.

7) Stuntman Mike (played by Kurt Russel)- A stuntman who targets pretty girls and kills them with his death-proof car. He is the quintessential serial killer- charming, interesting, kinda sexy, "foolproof" and remorse-less. His modus operandi is pretty unique too, I might add.

6) Jules Winnfield (played by Samuel L. Jackson)- The role that would typecast Jackson forever. But it still is one helluva role! No one can preach like this man...and no one can kill like that after. He's plain iconic.

5) Zed (played by Peter Greene)- Oh he was one twisted character! I remember watching this for the first time and being slightly shocked at what was going on, because it hadn't registered immediately. Caution: Keep him out of your pants.

4) Elle Driver (played by Daryl Hannah)- I've always thought of O-Ren as a greater opponent for the Bride, but she has a backstory to support her character so she ain't all bad. But Elle is nasty, and so freaking hot! With her, it's all personal- love for Bill, envy and respect for the Bride, hatred towards Pai Mei and disgust for Budd. She is a very striking villainess, and the one eye is pure brilliance.

3) Mr. Blonde/ Vic Vega (played by Michael Madsen)- He's just glorious. First they show him as a faithful friend and employee, but then as a blood-thirsty, ear-cutting lunatic. I was genuinely afraid of him, but at the same time I found Madsen very sexy.

2) Bill (played by David Carradine)- The head or Snake Charmer of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. His love for the Bride makes him take drastic steps and while it is painful for him, he does massacre a lot of people. The whole premise of both the Kill Bill's is the Bride's revenge from him- without him, there is nothing.

1) Col. Hans Landa (played by Christoph Waltz)- Speaking of glorious, sexy, unique, smiling villains...how amazing is this guy?! The very first time I saw the film I said, "This guy will sooooo win the Oscar!" And for once the AMPAs did not disappoint. But then again, he was so convincing as the diabolical, fair-weathered Jew Hunter.  His stares bore a hole through you, and his bingos make one howl with laughter; how could they help it? He is simply superb.

Thoughts

These are my film/life related thoughts of this week-

1) Since possibly its release, I saw Gladiator for the first time three days ago. This is because as pointed out earlier, I hate Russel Crowe. But nothing was really coming on the telly, and I was in no mood to stare at my laptop for 3 hours, and I thought what the hell! I was convinced that the combined brilliance of Joaquin Phoenix and Djimon Hounsou (so gorgeous!) would reduce whatever negative effect Crowe has on me. Alas, the next day I found myself with a very high fever. Buuut, having said that, I am still glad I watched it. It is an incredible film, and the performances- even Crowe's- are great (his is pretty good). Also, this officially proves my long-standing suspicion that I am indeed allergic to Russel Crowe.

2) Oh the blogosphere was buzzing with the disastrous MTV Movie Awards. I did actually watch it, and just found it very funny. I should be infuriated with the Twilight Saga: Eclipse sweep, but the fact is that often other awards shows cause a much stronger negative reaction from me. So I didn't really care that Kristen Stewart won the popcorn. I'll tell what I did like- the JT- Mila Kunis "performance", the little Andrew Garfield shots, Emma Watson's dress, Robert Pattinson's tribute to Reese Witherspoon- I had actually thought of the mother-fucker connection when I first heard of the Water for Elephants casting, and obviously Emma Stone. I just have two suggestions for the people in charge of the show: a) really truly show the statistics behind the voters- their age-groups, employment-status, their state of minds, their Renfield-connections etc.; b) and most importantly, why don't they just cover the whole stage with Rob Pattinson's pictures?? He was on the stage more than Jason Sudekis, the host. "My wiener says Edward, but my balls are indifferent."

3) So the Fassy Fever continues. Now I want to review X-Men: First Class, but in a different, highly girlie way. I'm sorry... I know the story was good and the action was fun and the message was deep, but this film is like porn-substitute for girls. Too Much Information?? Try Too Much To Handle! Anyways, I have been among those seekers-of-diamonds-in-the-rough-people since Inglorious Basterds came out, praying that Fassbender becomes the next Bond. But I was thinking... especially post the Erik Lehnsherr experience, that if he does become 007 and they will obviously revamp the series (as they always do for everything), they should set it in the 50s or 60s. Fassy has that old-school classy look to him..he makes me often think of the phrase- "They don't make men like that anymore." Besides it will be fun... going back to basics- super cool basics that is.

4) Also a Very Happy Birthday to Mr. Johnny Depp!

FINALLY- the only thing better than Fassy and Depp...
...is a Sexgod Wizard who can control metals.

Agreed??

"You know, the only thing that kills the demon... is love." ~ FAVOURITE COUPLES IN TARANTINO FILMS

Quentin Tarantino's name is, by most of us, automatically associated with violence, blood, drugs, Samuel L.Jackson, basterds, awesomeness etc.- and that totally makes sense. However... I also think that Mr. Tarantino is quite a Romantic. So he doesn't have the "You jump, I jump, Jack" thing, rather an "You execute, I execute, Pumpkin" ideal but it ain't love without some madness, right?
These are my favourite couples from QT films:

Honourable mentions- Pumpkin and Honey Bunny, Mr. White and Mr. Orange.

5) Shosanna Dreyfus and Fredrick Zoller (played by Mélanie Laurent and Daniel Bruhl)- The doomed relationship. He was a Nazi hero, she was a Jew whose family had been hunted down and killed. I found it really sweet how he kept trying to impress her, or as much as his Nazi ego would allow. The last scene between them is so tragic- I mean I understand why it happened the way it happened, and how great it looked, but it would have been interesting if they had hit it off...till the cinema burned down atleast.

4) Jackie Brown and Max Cherry (played by Pam Grier and Robert Forster)- I found both of them very sexy in the film. I loved how Max instantly falls for her, and practically puts everything in the line for her, while she tells him all her plans. I have learnt not to get very attached to QT characters in the sense that their deaths might cause me distress, but throughout the film I was silently praying that Jackie and Max don't die. QT, ofcourse, never disappoints. Great chemistry, great roles.

3) Clarence and Alabama Worley (played by Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette)- It was a match made in Sonny Chiba-heaven. Clarence, the comic book store clerk meets Alabama, the rookie call girl, and they instantly fall in love. Sure their love leaves behind a trail of dead pimps, drugs, crazy Sicilians etc. but that's the way romance is.

2) Mrs. Mia Wallace and Vincent Vega (played by Uma Thurman and John Travolta)- Vincent is told by his boss Marsellus Wallace to take his wife Mia out for a fun time. So he does- they talk, drink 5 dollar shakes, win the Jack Rabbit Slims Twist Contest, and he ends up saving her life when she ODs on his stash of heroin. Perfect evening. Okay so they're not really a "couple-couple" and don't particularly harbour romantic feelings towards each other, but they are just so brilliant together. I saw the film Pulp Fiction quite late, but I think I've always known the dance scene, and I've always wanted to be them. They are probably one of my most favourite couples ever, but just because of the non-romantic aspect of their relationship, they lose top spot in the list.

1) Mickey and Mallory Knox (played by Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis)- Both of them, in my eyes, are the quintessential QT couple. They're violent and murderous and mad, but also they can die and kill for each other. Harrelson and Lewis are extremely convincing in their insanity and insatiety, and they make the characters their own. Sure Mickey and Mallory go on a killing spree and what not, but this line come on!-

Tarantino Week Ahead

So I finally finished all the films in a certain Mr. Tarantino's filmography. Now when I say all, I mean everything he has written or directed or both. I'm sorry but not even my love for Tarantino can make me watch Hostel. Anyways...I have made certain Tarantino-themed lists, which I will be (hopefully) posting throughout this week. I am a bit under the weather and have college stuff to look at, but I promise that I'll try and finish the lists within a week.
The lists will be:

1) Favourite Couples in Tarantino films
2) Favourite Villains in Tarantino films
3) Favourite Characters in Tarantino films- Main and Supporting
4) Favourite Violent Scenes in Tarantino films
5) My Top 5 Quentin Tarantino films.

SO VERY EXCITED!!

Fassbender is a Sexy Basterd.

I have such a Fassy Fever! He's so gorgeous in Inglorious Basterds... can't find a video on his whole scene with August Diehl unfortunately. I do love the Tarantino face-offs... I will finally be done with his filmography tonight, post-Jackie Brown.

"I must say, damn good stuff, Sir."

Thoughts

I might actually have a regular feature with this one. So thoughts:

1) Fincher on my Mind- The first leaked and then official teaser trailers for David Fincher's adaptation of Stieg Larsson's acclaimed thriller The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo came out this week. Needless to say, I went nuts. I saw the "apparently" leaked red band one non-stop, started hyperventilating when it got removed, and am now seeing the green band (?) one in similar fashion. And can you blame me? It's fucking Fincher making a thriller! The first time I saw the first trailer, I sat down and watched the Swedish version of the film. It was good, but Fincher and Fincher alone can make it great. I am already predicting falling in love with Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig within the end of this year. So Freaking Excited!

2) This is a continuation of the previous stream of thought- Fincher is apparently directing Cleopatra with Angelina Jolie as the title character. Um... I just can't... can't imagine what it will be like, look like, anything like. I don't know how long this has been in the works, but I just read the IMDb page for the film, and another internet article about it, and my brain has fuzzed over. I had been predicting that Fincher will be making more female-oriented films and dramatic ones, though he is mostly a guy-director. Yes there was Aliens 3 and Panic Room, and Marla Singer and Daisy...but Fincher seems like a guy's-guy. I think Jolie will be fine, as a cousin of mine pointed out- she is part of the Fincher-Pitt family, but still I cannot fathom what the film will be like. I was a bit skeptical about The Social Network too originally, and see how that turned out. Here's hoping it will be just as great.

3) Hungover...again?- I saw Hangover 2 this week. It was good, but honestly the same thing as the first one with a lot more violence involved. Apparently there might be a third one...in Amsterdam. Lots of questions popped into my head after this- Will Alan get married now? Because that will be weird. What will Stu do with the Red Light District hookers of Amsterdam? What animal will they use? How seriously will Phil get injured? And most importantly..WHY, OH WHY WOULD THEY DO IT AGAIN?? Seriously no one is stupid enough to get fucked over 3 times, no matter how funny or insane! (I'll do a quick review soon, after watching X-Men probably.)

4) Sequels- Peter Jackson-directed The Hobbit, will now be divided into two parts. I'm fine with it, but it does make me think that Deathly Hallows might have started some sort of a trend now. Sad names though- The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again. How does one compare something like Fellowship of the Ring to There and Back Again...it sounds like a Backstreet Boys song for crying out loud! Also a sequel that I have personally been waiting for is finally in works...or is it? Paramount has apparently set the release date of Star Trek 2 next year June...despite the fact that there is no script or director or actors. I thought Star Trek was brilliant, and as much as I want to see a sequel, I really don't want it to be crap due to limited time and rushed production.

Okay...personal thoughts over. How about yours?
